A message of simplicity for the liberal cut and run gang.
We made a commitment to the people in Iraq when we liberated them. I know "commitment" is a dirty word to the morals/values free left who prefer no-fault divorce and kill the baby types of solutions for "convenience" and "happiness" sake.
Many are right though is demanding a more effective plan. However, please
STOP with the "American boys and girls" casualty arguments. If the socialist sheople and their shepherds were so concerned with fatalities amongst our young people they'd
FIRST solve the carnage in our cities which sustain and geometrically higher rate of killed and maimed people annually than our troops have in Iraq and Afghanistan in the entire time we've had them there. Of course we cherish and mourn those who have
FREELY given their lives for their country and for the peoples over there.
Here is the simple plan which should satisfy the McCain "more troops" crowd as well as those discouraged by the continued small, in the scheme of things, casualties being incurred.
Relocation: Remove U.S. Coalition troops from all urban population centers. Relocate Coalition forces to 3 remote desert locations within Iraq. Set up the 3 catonments as secure, do not approach areas. Ensure the "secure" radius extends just farther than large bore mortar capabilities and have 360 degree counter-battery coverage to suppress/destroy the probable tried rocket attack that would periodically happen. Patrol, ground and air the entire "secure" area and keep it clear. Two of these areas would be solely dedicated as holding areas for coalition forces in Iraq. The third would be the "Iraqi forces recruiting area". Iraqi volunteers would be able to approach the third area by a single secure route. Entrance to the secure area would be allowed after a physical inspection of each volunteer. Groups of volunteers would then approach the training catonment with strong military escort. Iraqi Units trained would then be escorted out of the secure area to be armed and equipped by the Iraqi government and deployed by them for their national security purposes.
Benefit: Immediately the casualties (coalition not terrorist) would go down leaving the national/international terrorist propaganda network, also know as
the media, with nothing to harp on one-sidedly. The terrorists would be furhter exposed as slaughtering people they claim to be "fighting for". Of course besides "Allah's" minsinterpreted exhortations to slaughter infidels and apostates.
Troop Reductions: Limit deployment to 1 Armored Division, 1 Light (or Airborne/Air Assault) Infantry Division and 1 Brigade of Army Air (Transports and Gunships). Also Wing of Tactical Air Force. Organized as a Corps level element with component brigade sized (and the squadron) rotated from active duty and national guard units for 18 month tours of duty. Remove all "nation building", "civil affairs" and other extraneous personnel not integral to the divisions, brigade or squadron. Call it the "American Freedom Expeditionary Force". This grouping would amount to no more than 60,000 personnel. This would constitute well over a 50% reduction of forces in Iraq.
Benefit: More troops available for U.S. needs, more garrison and training time for active forces and reduced NG/AR deployments.
Tactical Advantages: Defendable perimeters eliminate or grossly reduce terrorists' opportunities to harm our troops. In country location allows us to strike if/as needed in a concentrated manner without being mired in an urban insurgency.
Strategic Advantages: We can continue to meet the committment we made to the new Iraqi government. We can punish selectively those supporting and supplying the criminals and terrorists. We reduce the international (mis) perception that we are dictating to Iraqis how they should run their country. We can continue infrastructure work in stable areas of Iraq. The people there will see that those areas that are stable rapidly improve, degrading the criminals and terrorists stated goals and positions and degrading the inaccurate arguments of "world opinion". Iraq will, by need, become more quickly self-sufficient and self-reliant while the U.S. retains a viable deterrent force to fanatics taking over and the regimes around Iraq working for that end.
Economic Advantages: Significant deployment cost reductions in transportation, supply, combat pay, casualty benefits and other associated costs.
Political Advantages: New direction defuses the "stay the course" people AND those who criticize them. Cheaper in lives and treasure is always politically popular. Iraq won't by default evolve into an enemy or hostile regime. American will isn't seen to soft and pliant.
I solicit all feedback to this plan, let's refine it and make it realistically viable as a possible alternative to the unrealistic, stay the course, hate America and Iraq Surrender Group types of people and polticians.
