Silence in the Courts

While generally opposing activist courts it is most disconcerting when they don't or won't act in their actual constitutional role.  The Federal Behemoth's nationalizing of private companies is quite grossly outside the scope of their enumerated powers.

Actual harm to private citizens and their property is taking place.  From the link above; "GM pensioners, did indeed represent something like $20 billion worth of GM’s liabilities. So the idea that the union should get an equity stake in return for that is fair enough. However, the UAW is getting three times as much as the bondholders, who represent $28 billion of GM’s outstanding liability."

Where is equal protection under the law?  Where is the prohibition on illegal "taking".  Where is the "fairness" that collectivists so frequently moan about?.

Who has standing to bring suit?  Why hasn't it been done already?  If I held those bonds I'd be suing GM's butt off as well as challenging the blatantly unconstitutional actions of the executive branch.

Tired of being told what "everyone" agrees on?

We are a little sick and tired of being told by the nattering nabobs of left and right that "everyone agrees" that "some sort of stimulus by government is necessary".

Patent hogwash.
1.  The constitutionality of much (if not most or all) of the porkulus package is in serious question
2. Because some opinionator on TV or radio thinks "some sort of stimulus" is necessary doesn't make it so.  They operate in their own insulated circle and so believe that their friends and colleagues constitute "everyone".
3. Name an example when government programs ever fixed ANYTHING, EVER!

Brent Bozell gives great examples of these lemmings (his examples are on the left because he isn't).

My favorite is a network boob hectoring Eric Cantor with; "Can the Republican Party accept that there are situations when large-scale government intervention is necessary?".

Maybe some (or many or most) Republicrats can accept that falsehood but no freedom loving American who thinks should do so.  There are no situations, aside from war, where government has ever been successful when "intervening" in the free market.

Finally the media ditzoids should realize when they whine about "nationalizing" things this simple truthful equation.  "Nationalization" equals theft.  When you take the property of individuals without their permission it is called stealing.

To be a collectivist you must either be:
1. Poor and unwilling to take the steps necessary to improve your lot
2. So well off or insulated (by your politicrat status) that confiscating some of your property doesn't harm you.  See any billionaire entertainer or business person who espouses collectivist views.

Most people want to be left alone to enjoy the fruits of their labors or to labor to gain more fruits.  Not to stand in line for handouts of hot off the presses government scrip that our descendents will be harmed by for generations.

Our Petulant President

One wonders how we went from a historical documented success in restoring our economy by recognizing that government isn't the solution, it is the problem, to "only government has the resources to jolt the economy", in only 29 years.

Don't mention this to our current President though. Obama's display of his petulant attitude is humorous and concerning.

He displays this whenever anyone dares to question his statist, collectivist agenda.  His first news conference was only one illustration.  His glib response of "I won" to his puckishness in response to anyone even questioning him, let alone disagreeing shows the arrogant and elitist partisanship of totalitarian mind sets.

Beware America!  Your American Freedom is at stake.

Facts for an Obamanation

The "hope and change" minions that elected Mr. Obama never seemed too concerned with his background nor his quite extensive history of questionable associations.  He also has quite clearly made his worldview and political aims clear throughout his less than illustrious career.

Bill Long, here on Townhall, has done a yeoman's job and great service to provide thinking Americans with detailed resources to learn about the true Obama yourself.

Fiscal irresponsibility tied to unconstitutional scope

It is worth reading Radley Balko's very good piece on the ongoing financial mismanagement of and by our Uncle Sugar.  He points out the irresponsible and perhaps illegal aspects of how the Federal Behemoth handles money (YOUR MONEY) that would have each of those bureaucrats screaming for criminal indictments if practiced by *regular* (peons like you and me) people or *normal* (not funded by mandatory confiscations of money) businesses.

However these observations only scratch the surface.  These irresponsible and dangerous practices certainly would never be allowed by a responsible business.  The worst part however is that most of these shenanigans are in support of unconstitutional governmental activities.  If the Federal Government would limit itself to its enumerated powers such "creative accounting" wouldn't be necessary.  Therefore it would be markedly less likely to happen.

Federal Government doesn't exist and wasn't intended to *give you things* or to "help you" in bad times.  That is the proper province of family, community and State.  It is unfortunate that so many citizens and most (if not all) politicians see central government as nothing more than a bag of goodies to be distributed, well intentioned or not, to ensure their own hold on office.

While the government politicrats plan to commit 700 BILLION of YOUR dollars to a socialistic "rescue" of bad business practices, take a look at rational reality.  Thanks Walter Williams.  Throw the bums out is a slogan befitting both major parties.  Even more important is to educate the citizenry of what Constitutional Government is and should be.

Gas Flapping

People and particularly the media and politicians want to rant about oil and the *evil big oil* corporations. The sheople eat it up without looking at facts about "Big Oil". They also don't realize that every contributing factor to the rise in gas prices have simple solutions. Simple solutions that the collectivist elites and politicians and *activists* will do anything to stop.

The economics are simple. When a product is in increased demand, the price can go up, depending on supply. The price will ALWAYS go up when supply (increasing or not) doesn't match demand. No amount of government intervention or taxing of the suppliers will change this. No artificial subsidization or promotion of alternative fuels will change this. The artificial supports actually contribute to the price increases.

Why doesn't supply of gasoline and diesel fuel keep up with demand in our country?

  1. We don't have enough refining capacity and leftist collectivists forbid, hinder and block any attempts to change that shortage
  2. We don't exploit our own oil resources sufficiently and leftist collectivists forbid, hinder and block any attempts to change that.
  3. Government sees fuel as a cash cow and continually raises taxes on the product and leftist collectivists never want to reduce or eliminate any existing confiscation of the citizens' monies.

A favorite political line is "dependence on foriegn oil". That dependence won't be alleviated by government mandated *solutions* but by increasing our domestic supply and refining capacity. Finally, the media will have the sheople bemoan the dependence on Middle East oil. 15% or less of the oil processed and used in the U.S. are from Middle East sources.

Economic Freedom not Government policies are the answer to high gas prices and shortages in supply.
